Running for Premature Babies in the SMH Half Marathon

Fundraising Requirement $200 per person 21km, or split between two into a 10.5km/10.5km relay

Join the Running for Premature Babies team in the SMH Half Marathon to give premature babies a better chance of survival, and to celebrate all prematurely born children, both living and lost.

More than just a fundraiser, the group organise free team training three times a week as well as regular social events and a focus on having fun and supporting runners of all abilities. You’ll receive a free team running singlet and cap in exchange for fundraising at least $200.

All funds raised will go towards a special monitoring system for premature and critically ill babies in the highest level of Newborn Intensive Care (NICU) at the Royal Hospital for Women.

Set up 12 years ago by Sophie and Ash Smith after the deaths of their prematurely born triplets, Henry, Jasper and Evan, the charity has raised over $3million so far, benefitting more than 5000 babies and giving premature babies a better chance of survival. Sophie is hoping to gather a team of 500 runners in this year’s event.
